Post subject:  Best 944 day today

Took the turbo out for its first real outing today. I drove it the 65 miles to work and back.
It felt fantastic on the slippy roads and the power was great for both motorway and B roads.

On the way home, i was cruising on the M4 heading westbound between junctions 11 and 15 when in my rear view mirror is a mettalic grey C plate 944 turbo!
I gave the driver a wave as he went past and we go for a convoy. It was a brilliant feeling as we passed slower cars. These cars can really hold thier own even when 23 years old and doing 130 leptons. I gave another wave at Junction 15 as i exited and went home. C*** CYN - are you on here?

Great - thats what classic car ownership is all about.

On the way to pick up my children from school, a red 944 S2 past me with the owner waving frantically. I recognise the car from Wanborough near Swindon.

Again - is the owner on here?

Ive regained my passion for these cars again after quite a hefty repair bill and replacement program. Parcels arrive everyday at the Rav household, the neighbours even asked if i was importing drugs from Columbia. The cheek......

P.S. C*** CYN - sell me your wheels?

Too true mate. Was at York dragway at the weekend. Drove back in fast convoy with a chipped S4. Porsches rock! Great comeradery.

To my surprise my GTS beat my Rose on the day at the strip despite us having fitted a varible boost control on Saturday so we 'chipped' the 944 on Monday. Its now boosting at a little over 2 bar.

We intend going to Santa Pod at the end of the month. I''l have GTS decatted by then too.
Are you free?

Stephen

Let me know when exactly and i will make sure im free!

Worried about running standing 1/4's though. Its one thing bringing the car up to speed on a motorway but completly different accelerating hard from standstill.

Im not sure my car would cope?

It won't even notice or get a sweat on.
My Turbo takes everything in its stride.
The cars are made for it - every day!!
Every oppertunity it gets for a standing start it gets a full blown one.
Porsche built quality!

We are going down for the 31st.

Rav, glad to know you're enjoying the 944 but please be careful along that bit of the M4! Regular speed cams on the bridges along that bit, sometimes disguised or hidden

Rav,
I've seen lots of 944s around Swindon over the last few days, more than usual.
Saw a white cab in Lyneham yesterday - seen this before, driver returned my wave rather begrudgingly it seemed, a red S2/turbo on Great Western driver yesterday - quite a late one H plate I think and a black cab with a private 944 plate coming home tonight by the Science museum.
There's a red lux in Hilmarton too.
They're everywhere! Mine sadly is currently having its clutch removed in Bristol.

Thanks for your concern Jim - Yes ive seen these 'scameras' along the M4 too.
I think i got carried away in the fun of the moment and will keep a look out.

Its all to easy to sit comfortably at quite a high speed without realising it. In fact i think that the 944 t sits comfortably in 5th at well over the National speed limit.

David - I too have seen several 944s around the Swindon area recently. Its true that when you have a particular car, you start to see more of them on the roads.

Since I always stick to the speed limit I have never reached fifth gear. Honest.
