The rear light clusters on my 944 S2 have started to fill up with water when it rains! The water is also leaking from the back of the clusters into the boot. It looks like someone has tried to silicone seal the back of the lights in the past to try and stop the leaks. should I replace the rubber light seals on the lights to cure the problem? Can theses be bought individually or will I need new light clusters? Can anyone help with advice?

The lights need stripping off & careful cleaning & inspection. Any cracks need some glue squeezed in to seal. Then a silicone bead on the back & push it into place, covering the paint with clingfilm first, lightly nip,do not overtighten the fastenings. Leave for 24hours & strip remove cling flim & bolt back in place. The cling film is because some silicones attack paint & rust here is not good news.

mine leaks into the fog light on the drivers side only, not into the boot at all, so i got a pin held it with a pair of pliers whilst i heated it up with a lighter and put a tiny hole at the very bottom of the fog light to let the water out, works a treat, yes i know its not the answer but at least the water wont fuse the lights

Jim always gives sound advice, but before you strip the lights out and break any seals that are already in place.....

I had this exact same problem, a policeman put his flashy blue lights and siren on and pulled me up to tell me that every time I went over a speed bump he could see the water moving around in my foglight - how nice of him.

Mine was leaking into the fog light and also into the off-side rear boot well. I found that the leak was coming in from the boot latch seals. I took them out, cleaned them - they were all slimey and the slime allows the water to track between the seals and the bodywork and into the lights. I re-fitted the seals, ensuring they were fitted correctly - which is hard to do.

Never had a leak since.
