It seams weird that I can see the top seat belt anchor points as plain as day as they have plastic blanking plugs in them , yet I can see no way there are any other anchorage points for the lower parts of a seat belt.

Do Porsche provided top anchorage points without bottom ones , or are there anchorage points but maybe hidden under carpet or something ? . I did pull it back a bit but its prety tight down there.

Also do I need to change my back seat for one cut to take the clamps or am I way off the mark ? . Obviously I would very much like to speak to someone who has actually added rear belts to an early 944 but that might be a bit hopefull I know :?

At least I finally found somewhere to get a colour sample re the leather for the front seats , under the back seat there is a bit and I hadnt though of that :blackeye:

Cheers

Mas

What sort of belts are you asking about?

You certainly have mounting points for fixed laps, inertia laps and fixed three point belts (the missing mountings will be found under your rear seat squab (lap inertia belsts were the most common option on 1986 Turbos btw). 3pt inertia belts may require a further bracket...

Yes it will have mounting points for the belts even late 60's cars have them.
Talk to Quickfit Safety Belt Services in Stanmore they manufacture belts to whatever spec you want & can make brackets etc.

I have a set of good inertia lap belts which came out of a 1986 944 Turbo, including the mounting bolts. All youll need to do is pierce the rear squab.

Whether all cars have the required mounting for 3pt inertia belts is less certain. I used to believe so because I fitted a set into my girlfriends 924 in 1996 and I removed a set from my own 1985 hillclimber in 1993. The belts certainly fit without any substantial adaption, but they may require the use of a bracket. Its fifteen years since I used to do a lot with the cars and I really cant be certain now.

Thats good info , a company like that may be usefull if I cant do it simply as they arent too far away from here. 944man have P.M'd you as I'd be perfectly happy to fit 2 point belts if it can be done without drilling etc in fact I'd be chuffed.

Mounting point is under the seat for lap belts but to fit 3 point inertia belts you will need to get a bracket welded to the inner rear 1/4's and also change the carpet trim that fits on both sides of the hatch area.

Seat belt services quoted me 352 inc vat supply and fit 3 point inertia.

Quickfit safety belt service quoted me 300 inc vat ( ned to see car may be slightly less or more labour)

Having just seen a boxed new set of belts go on e bay for less than 40 quid this does seem a fair few quid I have to say  BUT if my kids are going in even though very occasionally then the safety will have to be a priority . Not sure how to deal wit this yet TBH

Cheers

Mas

I feel that children need a three point belt; even if its only a fixed three pointer. These are harder to find used, though theyll be easily found new for not too much. If you decide to go with three point inertia belts then Id advise buying a set of used belts (whichll be virtually unused) and fitting the bracket. When I get a chance I will take a couple of pictures of my late car which has them fitted and youll be able to see what the craic is.

Rear inertia reels require brackets welded one and new boot side carpets as someone has already mentioned.
The boot light is on cars with rear inertia reels is in a different place too...
