Yesterday I left my 951 with Paul at PSR to get his opinion. I knew I had bought a cheepie and I knew it had a couple of minor oil leaks and other repairs that could be done long term but wanted to know is the car worth saving. Basically I took a calculated risk
The short of his exam is , get a cambelt service and get the leaks done at the same time as one is in the same area thus saving 'some' labour. I always intended to have the belts done asap so thats not really a defect cost so to speek. Also the anti roll bar bushes are shot but apart from that the car seems remarkably solid. Under the car seems rot free which is nice.
I was suprised by the exhaust and wondered if it's standard. Googling it ,I see that having a second pipe that bypasses the mid box seems the norm. The exhaust has a large mid section box , well a long one anyway and the second pipe ( no silencer) from the wastegate to the rear box , can you guys tell me is is that the standard exhaust ?.
I wish i'd taken a picture whilst it was on the ramp typical isnt it.
Ive certainly not seen it on 'other cars' , definately an interesting looking set up even to non mechanic me.
I wil get the actual figure to do belt service , oil; leaks and bushes tonight , obviously not pennies but I feel if at all possible this is a car that deserves an owner who does care about her. Maybe she will show her appreciation and be good to me
