My 1989 944 S2 does not have a code sticker in the boot nor is there a sticker in the original service book. This car has been owned from new by my family so I know it has not been in an accident and the sticker removed. The car is an unusual colour Turquoise. I am in possession of the original bill of sale so have the information normally contained on the sticker. Does anyone know if this omission has happened on other cars or know the reason. The car was originally purchased fron an OPC centre in east sussex

Never heard of missing stickers in both, obviously the rear panel would point to accident damage but the owners manual as well, replacement? I don't know :?

My 1989 car was purchased new from Merlin Chatsorth (a pretty poor OPC) and the sticker wasnt placed on the first page of the service book. The build sticker is there though...

I had not thought of obtaining replacement stickers, where would I try to obtain a replacement? Are stickers printed and put on by the dealers or are they supplied by the manufacturer with the car.

Funny my S2 is Turquoise and has no sticker at the back. Mechanic thought it would possibly have been hit at the back but could see no signs of damage. It does have a sticker up near the the fuse box but it is worn out. Wonder if ours is the same colour. "Turkis Blue" I think, has cream leather (linen grey) with navy blue piping on the seats. Seems to be a dozen or so built with this same spec from what I can see.

yes, it seems that your car and mine have the same specification.linen leather blue piping to the seats, colour code LM5M Tuerkisblue metallic.I will look for a sticker near the fusebox and post the result. The car was purchased new from Malaya garage in sussex, they went out of business in the early 90s.

There is a sticker near the fuse box which gives the paint code, it says M5M AUDI 2, Tuerkisblau, metallic, E6. If this is a limited edition of a dozen or so where would I find information on this. Nearly all of the guides into buying a 944 I have read advises to check for a sticker in the boot to ensure the car has not been in an accident. It seems that this is not the case, certainly in my car and in one or two others in the forum. My car belonged to my son in laws mother for 13 years and me for the last 6. My son in law has detailed knowlege of the car from new, it was his familys pride and joy. It has not been in an accident and there is no evidence of a sticker ever being present. It would be advisable for those issuing guides to qualify their advice to reflect the fact that stickers were not present in all cases, even though a missing sticker would be a fairly reliable indication of possible accident damage. Incidently my car is a G plate 1990 car not 1989 as I first reported

I don't have a sticker on mine either but I assume it was removed when it was resprayed or something like that.

I don't have the original handbook either so I can't look in there for any info on it either, I just had the ID plate and the chassis number (not sure about engine numbers, not looked for those as I've had no need).
