Ive taken delivery of my long awaited 1986 944 turbo. Its a Zermatt Silver car with full black sport leather.
Some goodies in the form of Authority chips, bailey dump valve and Tial DPW too. I have graphs showing 278bhp at the wheels although now its been backed off to 220bhp.

My first question of many.....

Cleaning the car today and i extended the rear luggage cover (blind) to its max to see if it works. How on earth do you get it to retract again?

Also, just remembered, where is the oil pressure sender? I have a new one as the old one has failed. Full 5 oil press at all times.

Pictures as soon as i can recover from the 7 hours driving to Sheffiled and back.....

It should retract as soon as you let go of it. Sounds like the springs have gone inside the roller unit. I have heard others drill out the rivets and take it apart to fix, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

The oil pressure sender is in the housing just underneath the oil filter. Its pretty easy to get to from underneath when the engine trays are off. I changed mine earlier this year for the same problem (5 bar all the time) and it took about 30 mins all told. You have to drain the oil first so good to combine with an oil and filter change

Yep been there
Clarkes garage gives a full run down of what to do search Cargo or roller on it. But his instructions did not apply to my roller it was made differently. (1986 944 but I replaced it with ebay one so may not be made that year)
It does look like it does not work like a kitchen blind , it does not lock in any position it only springs back this makes it difficult to assemble as you have to wind up the spring then assemble.
On mine the rectangular peg had come off and the spring unwound. The end cap was cracked as well
I had to drill the rivets out at spring end ( use short self tappers to put it back I could not get pop rivets that small) take off the spring end put 15 turns on it then put it all back together. Fiddly. Expect it to spring out a couple of times!!!. I used epoxy to fix broken bits

You will have to take off the whole assembly from the rear seats to do repair it but its just two screws.

Or buy one off ebay 30-50£ but the one I got was broken or broke in the post..........hence my repair

Firstly many congratulations Rav. At LAST :bounce: Roller coaster ride wasn't it

2 or 3 blinds on Ebay at moment, probably easier to replace for £30 quid
