Well. Spoke too soon. Driving home tonight. Sudden cloud burst. Turned on wipers. Clunk. Passenger side works fine. Drivers side dead as a dodo. :blackeye: By winding the window down I find it's possible to work the wiper manually whilst getting wet. :( After pulling in a few times I did eventually get home.
Plastic cups are worn on the mechanism. Don't suppose anyone knows where to get any from. Can't find wiper wracks listed anywhere so far.
One or two on eBay probably in similar condition to mine.

The nylon cups get worn out. Not a fortune from an OPC apparently.

You need to look at PET but these seem to be the bits:-

477 955 035B Connecting arm short
477 955 039A Crank
477 955 036B Connecting arm Long

These are for an 85 Car, normal caveats apply!

Emergency wiper repair! Parts ordered from JMG but will not be here for 2 weeks as they have to come from Germany! I have 200 miles to do tommorrow so I hope it holds out. This is the drivers side. Fortunatley not too difficult to get at.

I have a complete linkage off my S2 which is the same as a turbo which was working fine when I removed it to fit a replacement one with a new motor you can have it for the price of the postage unless you are local to Teesside in which case you are welcome to collect it. Unfortunately I am going away tomorrow so it would have to be next week 31/08 when I could post it or you could collect it but the offer is there.

Glad to hear it is holding up, I am back next week so if you want the linkage I will sort something out then.

When you do get it fixed, make sure you squirt that linkage with grease a couple of times a year. The trouble is that rainwater runs down the windscreen (when parked) and washes all the lube out of that balljoint, especially if your plastic plenum cover is missing or cracked.

Hi JJ,

See link below

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2507

I grease round the drivers side armature wiper joint every month or so to keep the water out.
