Post subject:  Wheel fit question (for winter tyres)

Hi,

I'm looking for a set of snow tyres, i've seen some D90's off a 964 C4 at a reasonable price as follows;

Fronts - 6/52 GK-AISi7mg 964 362 112 01
Rears - 8/52 GK-AISi7mg ET52,3

Firstly would these fit my 91 944S2 and secondly could i put spacers on to fill the arches a bit? i kind of like them being narrower for snow performance but still want that wide look.

Thanks

Graham

You could space the rear without any ill effect, although 8"s are relatively wide already. The fronts arent suitable though (although many people have Carrera 2/4 wheels on their 944s): the 944 runs a 7" front, rather than the 6" part used on the lighter 911. If you 'space' this by more than a few millimetres then it will start to affect the steering geometery.

Thanks for the response - i'll keep an eye open for 944 D90's.

Only the fronts differ, but 7" rims certainly used to be FAR less common.
