Ive had a few issues with teh gauges on my 83 944............ when i turn on the sidelights/headlights the oil pressure and voltage guage both deflect to the left slightly and the fuel and water temp gauges both deflect to the right.

soemone suggested this was a sign of bad earth termionation points above the glovebox so i ran a heavy duty earth direct from the battery to the earth termination points............ no difference what so ever.

any ideas on this one?

On the 924/early 944s I believe the place to look is in the N/S part behind the dash. Take a wire brush to that area, and then put the earthing point back on with Vaseline as a contact. It should improve the electrics to no end.
