The 944 is designed with closed loop breathing so the crankcase breather should be connected back into the intake system if possible. What does the cone manufacturer say?

Are you sure its not just the pipe from the belt covers, thats the only one that goes to the airbox that I can think of.
That can just be removed

i dont reli know what its called. you might be right. it fits at the top of the oem filter box eclosure.. its tube is about 4cm diamter, and its a s like shape about 10inch long, disappearing sumwhere underneath

what are your knoi shocks like? i need to replace the drivers side front- may as well upgrade at same time. would it be poorly balanced if i didnt do the rears as well?

The Koni's are great on decent roads but I do find the car a bit more nervous on poor road surfaces, which round here is most of them!
They also did help find lots of new interior rattles. When they wear out if I still own the car I may go back to stock. Maybe when I finally get it on a track day I may change my mind.

On topic i'm running a cone filter until I sort a proper airbox. Unless you sort a cold air feed to it intake temperature gets very high in warm weather or traffic and that will reduce power.
It does sound good though

I'm not sure of the gains of running a cone filter, wouldn't be my choice on a variety of levels. Hot air draw from engine bay, poor filtration from cotton gauze filters being two of them.

it was just to make it sound nice. better that than fitting an aftermarket tacky exhaust

I understand the intake noise thing but it does kill power. The Dansk exhaust on mine definitely gave a power increase even on a tired engine, as well as sounding fantastic. :mrgreen:

Although I am running a cone at the moment I do agree with Jim. I'm only running one as I no longer have an airflow meter, just a length of gutter pipe in its place. I will sort a proper air box solution as i'm not a fan of cone filters.
Sat in traffic the intake temp gets well over 100 degrees F and thats before the fan kicks in and blows hot air over the filter.
The filter does help improve an otherwise dreary engine note though.

i had a dansk full system on my last 944.. a 2.7 litre. just a note but never fit a dansk for a 2.5 on a 2.7. the usless b*stards at clubautosport did that on mine and it was about 3 times louder than it should be. Two Plus Two of breirley hill fixed the bodge job for me changing it for the 2.7 dansk system (which has larger mid section silencer).

I fit a cone filter on my 924S and a PiperX small filter on the pipe that connected to the airfilter, as I could not get a tee connection to fit the pipe into the new cone filter air intake. I also ran 3" flexible to the air inlet in the wing but cant say I noticed any performance improvement although the extra noise was interesting.

My after market tacky exhaust gave me 5Hp at the wheels. Better than losing 10 with a cone filter! It sounds great also. It's a Dansk
