Hi to everyone. New to forum. Just bought (4 weeks ago) 1986 944 Lux. I have a problem with the central locking system. Not working when you open/close door OR by switch on center consul :(

Have removed OS soleniod from door and checked it - it operatives on battery. The wiring from the body to door looks ok. Any help would be appreciated :?:

mine just stopped working recently on the drivers door only - only the passenger door would lock / unlock on centre console buttom and remote plipper. door card off and found that one of the connectors from the solenoid to the door locking pin had come off. the best way to describe it would be a ball and socket arrangement - the ball push fits into a socket and it had just popped out. popped it back in, job done. hope its that easy for you. have you looked at the fuses / relays if they both dont work?

all the best and enjoy it!!

JJ I'm a few miles from Halifax (Clayton).

Yes have looked at connector and it's ok all wires in and mating ok, but only on drivers side door. Checked fuse-it's ok. Not checked relay though. I'll check relay next.

I don't know if there has been an alarm installed and CL wires routed through wires. If anyone could help in this area it would be much appreciated.

Assuming you mean 83 then no it won't it was only standard from 85 1/2. Don't think it was an option even before that.

I believe that it only became an option when script door handles were replaced with plain ones: so September 1987 for the 1988 model year. Script handles didnt have provision for central locking, so these and earlier will be retro-fitted aftermarket kits.

My 86 Lux has script door handles and didn't have central locking when I bought it, but part of the cat 1 alarm installation that I had done at the time enabled unlocking both doors from the alarm remote.

My '86 had central locking. Can't remember if it had script handles though.

Haven't had time to check the relay. Goint to do this today. By the way mine has one script handle and one non-script handle :?

I'm confused :(

Had a deep look at electrics. No relay by the way - only fuse (this is ok).

Cat 1 alarm had been fitted. Now disabled (don't know why). So me thinks I have to spend time locating where main control unit is. Had a look in footwells - no joy.

Lots of loose wires and connectors around. Oops. Pulled immobiliser unit from glove box and ripped wires from back. Hope car starts without this.
