Can you reset the tripmeter on the oval dash 944?

The reset button is disgiused as part of the centre vent -its closest to the dials.
Only press it when stationary

as above, button on RHS of centre vent, only press when car is stationary or you will break the already brittle reset gear

i HAVE FOUND THE BUTTON. Does it only work when car is started ?

no it works all the time but people worry that it will break if you presss it when the car is moving

Mine were always quite firm to push. I felt like I was going to break them.

Mine only resets when the key is in the ignition and switched on.
