Post subject:  23K Silver Rose SOLD at Raby Castle Show on the 28th June.
Hey Guys

Sunday there was a show at Raby Castle.
I was at Moffat but my friend Trevor who has a V12 XJS related this tale.

A 72 year old turned up with a 23k LHD Silver Rose looking like it was straight out of the box!
A friend had bought t over from Germany , kept it 6 months and sold it to him.
That was 10 years ok.
He could no longer push the clutch properly and mentioned wanting to sell the car for 6K
Imediately a crowd of perspective owners formed around the car.

The driver of a Purple 968 Club Sport (Trevor noted it was the exactly the same colour as my GTS) walked back to his car.
He returned with 8K cash, slapped it in the old boys hand and exited with the Rose.
The other perspective buyers were left with open mouths like Goldfish...

Trevor also reported that he'd spoke to the Rose owner before the sale and remarked about Roses being quick cars.
The Guy said he had it up to 85MPH a few times in the time he had owned the car but he did not like to speed!

Trevor spoke the new owner of the Rose who also said he had a 928 GTS.

A number of years ago I heard of a Barrister who owned both a Purple 968 and a Purple 928 GTS
This is surely the same guy?

Around 11 or 12 years years ago I was in Germany toring the Porsche Centrums looking for a 968. There was an incredibly low mileage ROSE in Wuppental that had just ben sold for a song. I wonder if it was the same car as the dates are about right?

Was any forum member at the show??

Thats a nice car for not a lot of money.
These LHD cars (especially the Rose) are fetching big bucks when in good condition over in the Fatherland now.

To make sure he got the car.
It was a steal for 8K and robbery at 6K.
As you pointed out their is a Rose in Germany with a similar mileage is up for sale at 32500 EURO.
That is one fat profit to be made!!

Of course he 'may' keep the car....

Not in the same league I know but years ago I bought a Scirocco GTX from a pensioner, low miles and mint, the oil buzzer sounded on the way home and on investigation the engine was full of sludge, low miles and low revs aren't always a good thing.

:shock: If I bought it the engine would go bang as soon as I took it up the road. Never buy a car thats been driven so gently unless you drive the same. The first time you take it to the red line the rods will stretch a bit more & the rings will hit a step in the bores & the rings will break & fly out the exhaust & wreck the engine. Give me a well maintained car with 100K on it any day! 8k or not it could still need big money spending on it to make it useable. I'm sure that Richys turbo would be a better buy. It was tried & tested. Not a garage queen.

The 30000 euro it would fetch in Germany who buy you a good GTS and a good 944 Turbo here.

Yep. It's in the tried and tested section of 911 and Porsche World mag. I think it's a lot of money though for what it is though IMO.
