Hi

I have a problem with my 944 in that it only blows hot air from the dash.
Sometimes it is a rush of hot air.

Any ideas?

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Check your vacuum pipes under the bonnet, i think the ones that run under the inlet manifold to the rear of the engine. One of mine came off once and the heater would only blow hot air, i don't know why, but poped the pipe back on and the heater was fine ???

It was not the vacuum pipes.

It is the clip broken on the heater control behind the panel.

Hi :)

Not sure if its the same system as a 928 but that problem on a 928 is usually caused by failure of either the outside or inside temp sensor, both of which combined control the temperature of the air in the climate control system....

On a 928 you have a small round cover on the dash with a couple of slots in it which draws air in and onto the sensor inside it and the other one on a 928 is set into the piping that leads air to the back of the alternator, under the front....

Not sure if this helps or not...

All the best Brett :)

Hi Jim

The heater control panel is one unit I can't see a clip?

Hi Brett

It appears to be a similar system. There is a small slotted circular hole on the dashboard with a rubber pipe coming from it.

As Jim says its nearly always the clip. Stick your head in the passenger footwell look up to the right and you should see it.

If it is the clip then it's only pennies from your nearest Porsche Dealer - one of the cheapest parts I've ever had to buy for both my cars

I found the easiest way to do this job was to removed the glove box liner.

Hi Guys

It was the clips behind the dash.
Many thanks to everyone especially Jim, Rich. Paul and mjs019 who were bang on!
Now I wait until Friday for JCT 600 to get me the bits so I can fix it.

Stephen :salute:
