Just bough a 1983 944 for £100. :-)

40k from new
FSH
TAX and Test

Non runner due to electrical fault RAC fault report states melted wiring loom! Well two paper clips and ten minutes later I was driving it around! The lighting loom near the switch has a small amount of insulation missing easy repair and the ingition switch has melted solid, but I now have an explanation on this!

I am so excited I had to tell someone! :-)

I'd be a bit sceptical about the mileage. And history. But for £100 you could make loads on it just breaking it! Cars like that are never around when I want one.

Nice, I got mine for nothing but it's going to need a hell of a lot more than £100 to get it back on the road.

Look forward to seeing pics of your find.

Hello again,

Well have now done around 300 miles and so far so good, there is a little backlash in the transmission, probably still got original rubbery clutch thing. Apart from that had to free off the cooling fan and all seems ok.

I have decided that this is going to become the new track car and I am going to retire the 924. So going to fit roll cage at the weekend as have Bedford booked for the 13th. :-)

Anyway some photos attached its quite straight but the lacquer is peeling in places.

Cheers

Neil

Check your drive shaft cv joints for play. Need new ones on mine as it happens. Like the tweed seats! :) Proper bargain by the looks of it.

Yeah I did not think of that, most forums seem to point to the clutch but will check the CV's. Had to fix the DME relay again!

hopefully with have the cage in tomorrow and serviced on Sunday if the weather stays good. :-)

Hello,

Just an update in case anyone is interested lol! :-)

Car is fully serviced, runs much better, had to reset the mixture it was running very very lean at idle!

The paintwork was very very bad on the bonnet, I think someone had taken a bonnet from another car for some reason so decided to have a go at vehicle wrapping! Here are the results although it is wet! But it not as hard as you would think.

Off to Bedford on Monday to see if it blows up!
