After getting my 944 running I noticed that the odometer isn't working so I opened it up and it turns out that the little red gear has split. I tried using some glue to hold it on the spindle but the teeth around the crack are too far apart and gets stuck.

What are my options for replacing it? My Dad has an old Volvo dash lying around which had a near identical gear on it including the crack, grr.

Several in the US do replacements, pretty sure Pelican are one. I think the gear is around $24 or so. Other option is get another speedo or talk to a UK refurber & see how much they want.
My odo works but the speedo itself is intermittant, probably a dry joint I'd guess.

$24 does seem a bit excessive for something not even a cm in diameter. Do you know of any UK refurbishers that might be able to supply me with the part?

Try Speedy cables or Speedograph Richfield.
