Post subject:  Changing steering wheel in 968

Hi can anyone help I have a 968 with a airbag and I have just got a momo d36 steering wheel that I would like to install, I have no hub which I now that I shall need,
but I wondered if I would need anything else.

You will need a resistor ( I think I used a 3.3 ohm, 0.6 watt metal film resistor) to connect into the plug for the airbag so that the car thinks it is still there when it does it's check and doesn't put the airbag warning light on. Also, disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes before before you start working on the airbag, this also reduces the risk of getting the warning light on and allows the capacitors in the airbag detonator to discharge.
You will need a horn contact too (part no. 928 652 104 00) , this clips straight into the end of the steering column and contacts the ring on the bottom of the boss on the new wheel.

It came direct from my local OPC, less than £10 I think, definitely under £20.
