Just thought I'd share an exert from Jon Mitchell's email last night reference my oil leak which has been leaving an oil slick all over South Somerset and my driveway ![]() ("Hi Andy The blue rocket has planted a headache firmly between my eyes. The oil slick generator does not seem to have a simple problem, my current theory (having had it apart and back together several times now) is that their must be a tiny crack in the oil filter housing, which is invisible and closed up when off the car, but when on the car and clamped with the bolts torqued up, or when hot, is expanding enough to cause oil to weap out. So, my plan is to remove it again after the weekend, bead blast it, get it crack tested (cunning method involving die and powder detection and then, if confirmed, to just replace the housing. If not, I have ordered some high tech oil additive which makes any leak glow under UV light so we can trace exactly where its weaping from before it collects into a drip! If you hear any distant screaming from where you live, its probably me pounding my head against the workshop floor! Seriously though, don't worry, it will be fixed and nothing is too much effort to get it right for you. All the best Jon Mitchell Jon Mitchell's Garage Independent Porsche Specialists www.jmgarage.com www.9xx.co.uk 01202 488800 07000 996 911") So this is proving to be a major problem at moment. Still Porscheless and in all this beautiful weather we got now I'm depressed. No car for Poole Quay event tonight and If I go down there I'll probably be even more depressed ![]() All praise to Jon though, he isn't go to let this beat him. Andy |

This is why everybody and their dog recommends John. Thorough as you like and with a genuine desire to get things right, once and for all. Mind you, I wouldn’t like to see your labour bill for the investigations! |

Yeah Jon and his team are brilliant. This is a problem that developed shortly after I bought car from Jon last year and even though the warranty ran out ages ago he's still willing to fix the problem F.O.C. Anyway it helps when we can swap trades as I've just installed a Sky home distribution system at his house ![]() Andy |

Sounds ideal. I’m a big fan of the barter system. Just need to persuade my usual garage that they need some adverts in All Torque … |

Thats how proper mechanics work. They don't give you the car back & tell you it's still knackered with a big bill. They fix it! Otherwise why bother. Might as well sort it yourself. |

Blue Rocket has returned ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I've got the rear hatch to align still and then the seats can start to be restored in the next few weeks hopefully. Jon's fitted a genuine MoMo RS steering wheel which he had and it's so tactile, give's real encouragement to grip the wheel with both hands and launch the car into a bend. Needs a little touch up of paint but nothing serious. Looking at taking the car off the road at end of year for the bubbles on the roof at the top of windscreen to be sorted. Screen out job to do properly and god knows what we'll find. Hopefully then she'll be in a very good condition but for now I'm just going to enjoy driving again and get to some meets while we have some sun after 6 weeks of being Porsche-less ![]() Andy |

Good to hear it back to full speed and your enjoying it. ![]() Keep thinking of dropping my car into JM when I go to Devon but don't want to be without it when the west country roads have so much more clear space to enjoy ![]() Strange how we all have a long list of 'to do's with these cars ![]() |

Think I'll have to give that a go a few times on Sunday to 'test' the new handling setup ![]() ![]() Ordered some Falken 452 tyres today aswell so got to use the last couple of mill' of the Michilin pilot sport cup's that are on at moment, they came with the alloys at got s/hand a while back ![]() Andy |

Glad to hear your back on the road. Just had the screen out on mine to fix some nasty corrosion on the A post. Makes sense to repaint the whole roof & sunroof at the same time. Only problem is the windscreen guys snapped one of the sunvisor hooks so thats another job. Looks loads better though. ![]() |

Andy I'm on the look out for a sunroof to fill the 'ole while I repaint my existing one. Any chance of your old one please as a loaner when you're done? |

I think I've finally got this other one bedded in and sitting properly now, you might remember I had a bit of a problem with this s/hand one. The original blue one is damaged on o/s rear corner but is still water tight I'll pm you a picture for you to see next day or two |

Not fussed on condition TBH, my car isn't garaged so I couldn't leave it outside without something to fill the hole up. I have a cunning plan Baldrick which I'll tell you later if it works! ![]() |
