I would check the obvious like does the other motor or motors in the seat work if not it could be a fuse or connector come undone, then I would swap the switch from a motor that does work either from the other seat or the same seat depending which work to see if the switch is faulty. Then I would start with the multimeter checking power etc as it could be as I said before a faulty connector or worn cable. Last I would take out the seat and inspect.

I’ve got the same problem and I’ve been putting off fixing it for ages …

One of the switches or motors in my drivers seat stopped working and I just haven’t spent the time figuring out why.

Are the fuses in the main car fuse box, or are there individual ones somewhere in the seat?

My drivers seat moves up and down happily when I'm not sitting on it, but blows the fuse when I try to adjust it with me stting on it. Do you think that the car is trying to tell me something? :oops:

Sounds like a pie intake reduction is being called for! :mrgreen:

Hi Guys Does anyone have experience of the motors used to used to raise up the rear of the seat/tilt the seat back? The rear adjustment button on the passenger seat has stopped working. Before I take the seat out does anyone have any advice as to probable causes/cures? Regards, Stephen

Hi David That sounds good advice I'll try that. I see you are in local. Are you coming to Fins and Chrome Show at Preston Park Stockton this weekend? We're trying to get a TiPEC stand together. Stephen, We can compare notes at the show, I'll bring my test light and volt meter! My drivers front motor did not work when I bought the car, but that was because the wires had pulled out of the connectors and weren't connected. Still required the seat un-bolting to fix though.

My ARO had this the other week, cleaning the fuses & using switch cleaner cured it, much easier than heaving a seat out!
