Hi All thanks for the info, it only rattles when moving so it sounds like the pads/back plate or the cable. I will have a look at the weekend.

Hi All, I have a small metallic rattle coming from the r/n/s wheel area which I can only hear when the passenger window is down, does anyone know what it could be! I had the same thing on my 86 Lux |

Sounds like a wheel bearing. They can click when there on the way out. Jack it up & check for play. It may adjust but chances are it will need replacing. Get good German ones. Chinese ones don't last! Bert gear or GSF. |

Has the backplate come loose & is moving around, common rattle is either pads in callipers or handbrake springs. |

Worth checking the Porsche Logo wheel centre is a tight fit in the wheel or rivets are not loose. My 924S mabe one hell of a noise once after a tyre change and that was all it turned out to be. |

I have a similar rattle and in the winter found that the handbrake cable rattled where it goes into the hub. I adjusted the handbrake and that fixed the problem until recently when it has returned. I think it may be down to stretched cables maybe? so I will eventually replace the handbrake cables. |

Are you sure it's coming from the wheel it could be from the STST exhaust tail pipe cover that fits over the exhaust, mine is loose although fastened on and it rattles at low speeds or revs and can only be heard from inside with the passenger window down. |

You haven't said if it only rattles when you're moving or if it's still there when you're stationary. 'Moving only' rattles I've had - Near-side rear pads rattling in the calipers - applying brakes when you hear the rattle will help you find this. Rattling from off-side rear wheel - loose backplate found with physical / visual inspection. 'Stationary only' rattles I've had (obviously with the engine running) - Original Chrome rear exhaust trim rattling - the original mounting flange rusts, so a good bonding solution will get you extra life there. Eventually it will fall off - and you'll never know where! Baffles rattling in original exhaust box - I've just put a new Dansk one on. Both of these can be found if you're stationary - if there's a rattle just increase the revs and see if the rattling stops to tell you it's the exhaust. Hope this helps, and please let us all know what it was. |

I supose it's how you define a rattle! No rears don't adjust it was a front I did. Fronts are tapers rears arn't. Hand brake springs are a very light rattle. Been there too. |
