I backed out of somebody's badly designed driveway and caught something under the car. The rear box is now rattling at tickover and sounds like it is blowing slightly, but I cannot find the leak.

I have phoned Porsche Wilmslow as a starter - £1055 inc vat for the rear box.... that's what I said too! Very expensive, what's it made of! But to be fair the current one is the original one and has lasted 189000 miles.

Porsche shop is £192 inc vat and postage - which is reasonable. Berlyn is over £200.

I'm not interested in extra power etc, so what have people bought in the past that is reasonably priced and does the job.

Just for interest, the complete system (one pipe) on the Mini was £26.

Thanks.

John, you'll have two choices the original Porsche system which won't be cheap although I thought someone in the past had tracked it down for around £100 or so. There never was a Kwikfit type requirement so you won't get copy Bosal systems made up.
The other option is Dansk, mine was around £140 & unleashed a little power & sounds slightly crisper but is in stainless steel. Mine doesn't rattle or drone & isn't noisy.

I bought a Dansk about 3 or 4 years ago for around £150. It fits perfect, is not noisy and is good quality stainless steel. Mine was from a regular Ebayer called Annantone - they often have Dansk boxes advertised

Thank you.

I've read previous postings about Dansk exhausts, but thought they were going to be stupidly expensive - clearly not so.

I think the majority vote on here would be for a Dansk so I'll go for one of those, and of course put up how much I pay and where I get it from.

John, worth having a shop around the prices vary wildly I suspect due to exchange rates etc.
