Post subject:  gearbox to torquetube sleeve

i have just had to replace the clutch in my 944 turbo, apart from the usuall spanner rash no major drama. but i am struggling to get the transmission sleeve back onto the torquetube.

Are you the remotest member? Are there any roads in Orkney? :lol: Well done on the clutch! :) Not had to do the clutch yet in mine. Just everything else.......

It makes it much easier if somebody can push the clutch in whilst you slide the sleeve on.
A large screwdriver can help lever it over too.

Just finished this job for the first time myself... Make sure you loosen the bolts between the gbox and tqtube so there's about 1/2in play (also make sure the oil cooler mounting bracket is removed, if applicable (turbos)). Grab the back end of the gbox with one hand and the sleeve with the other; try to rotate the end of the gearbox gently,while moving the sleeve into position. You will find it locates itself, then it's just a case of waggling and moving... If it doesn't go within 5 mins, walk away , have a cuppa, then have another try... Don't force it!! When in position, tighten the box to tube bolts.
