Got my 944 heater blower to work at full speed now, turned out to be a dodgy connection. Only problem is that after doing that I noticed that the air coming out was stupidly hot. turns out that the heater was stuck on as a piece has broken off of the control box and the cable was just flapping about behind the centre console.

So since I can't fix it I thought I'd look for one on ebay, no such luck. Looked through the 944 parts catalogue and found it and decided to see if I could find the same part number in the VW catalogue. Started in the obvious place first with the Golf but the number started differently, then moved onto the Audi 80, same part as the Golf, Audi 100 was completly wrong so I thought I'd check the Passat for the hell of it (seeing as I currently own 2 of the things) and it was the right number!

Might have to go over to the VW dealer around the corner for a price.

I don't suppose anybody else has one of these parts lying around doing nothing do they?

Do you mean the clip has broken off, if so they are around a quid from an OPC.

Sadly not, there seems to be a chunk missing from the back of it where the cable for the heater valve is clipped on.

Many dual VW / Porsche (VW originally, of course) parts used to be cheaper from OPCs!

In that case I'll try both, local VW dealers give me a discount because of the amount of parts I bought for my old VW and obviously OPC give me a discount as I'm a TIPEC member.

The valve can also seize, You can close that manually if not it sits just at the back of the cam tower.

Managed to close it off using a screwdriver so it's not seized, wasn't easy to move though.

It should move quite easily, it may be worth replacing it to save breaking another part. If I remember correctly on my 82 lux the valve was a cheap part.
