Has anyone got any views on what I should pay for an average condition/mileage example? I'm trying to persuade my wife that a local car which the owner is desperate to sell before the taxman gets him is well worth £2,500. It's average mileage, not much recent history but nice body and has an excellent blue leather interior and blue hood. Any input would be much appreciated! ![]() |

At that price for a S2 Cab i would snap his arm off, providing it is one car etc (usual HPI checks for crash damage etc) |

Thats real cheap but be prepared to spend £1k+ if it has not been looked after. I.e belts, service etc etc Rich |

Not only belts, clutch but I'd be looking for rust as well. |

Check the cams as well. This cheap & without history it could cost a lot more than 1K to sort out. Or it could be a credit crunch bargain. Just sounds too cheap for me. |

It's in North Wales - my son trained as a mechanic and knows his way around the 924/924S so he will give it a thorough check |

It turns out it's had the belts, clutch and brake discs replaced as well as a new hood in the last 5,000 miles and the oil pressure is good, 3 at idle and 4.5-5 under load. The only worry is it's tappety even when warm so there's a top end problem of some sort - any ideas anyone? It's also Azure Blue which is a sort of lilac colour and I have to admit not one of the better colours - should I allow this to put me off buying it? Any advice would be much appreciated. |

Tappety could be a variety of issues, dirty oil, poor quality oil. Someone has had the head off & lost damaged the one way valve to the head, blocked oil way, knackered tappets? It could also be a rattly chain or broken tensioner. Could be bl00dy expensive tappets are around 35 quid each! Azure blue is a royal blue not lilac so if it is LY5D as a colour code & it ain't royal bluish then it's been repainted. |

Just had a quote to replace my tappets in my S2 all 16 plus gaskets belts and seals £650. So I agree costly but might be in need of an oil change and engine flush, for that price might be worth the risk. |
