Are there any options when it comes to new Cams for a 944 S2. There are a load of companies out there that make cams but none of them seem to look after the 944 community. All I can see are the OEM ones from porscheshop.com at the moment. there must be others out there surely? |

not sure but i think i read somewhere 2.5l 944S cams have a better profile than the 3l S2 cams, otherwise i think you are looking at one of the american tuning companies, lindsey etc |

Only know of one good one. jon miledge This guy spent a lot of time messing with different profiles. But to be honest. Unless you have to buy new cams because of sprocket wear it isn't really worth it for the horsepower. Beware of going too radical. In fact for the price of doing it you can get a 968 lump which would make more sence. Inless it's your toy & you want to keep it a proper S2 ![]() S' good way to waste money though! If your after going faster. Better to put it on the dyno & check you have all your original ponys. Mines loads faster after resurecting 20 that had died off. ![]() |

I'm not really after the power or the additional spend. I think it's more of a culture shock issue (although just about to do the cams which is why the subject came up). I've been able to fettle with my elise and there are parts available EVERYWHERE! and for some reason was expecting the 944's to have the same sort of thing. As to be fair they are straight into early elise S1 money for a good 944 or early elise S2 if you have a 968. I was expecting to have to do loads of research as to what cams are best for me and what gain there may be, and am just surprised (in a nice way after lots of CHAV parts appearing for the elise) that there is very little choice. Maybe it was built as near perfect as possible (I can't say that about the elise ![]() |

The Porsche ones are fairly warm anyway not sure you'd gain a lot from tweaked cams. This is why mine will be supercharged! |

If you just looking for some good bolt on goodies then take a look at Lindsey racing. The S2 is pretty damn good to start with so suspention & restoration makes the most sence. Unless you really want to prove a point! If you need new cams & can't find good second hand ones then the extra 20 horses will be worth it. But just for 20 horses 1K is a lot to spend. Bolting on a supercharger should be good sport though! ![]() Lindseyracing Should have mentioned. A full Dansk exhaust from Bert Gear will make it sound like it has twice the horses it actualy has. Pulling up at Christmas my niece said."Thats not them. It's an aeroplane!" ![]() |
