I went to see this car when it was advertised for 6K in November. It was pretty much as advertised and we had a discsussion about the car along the lines of not wanting to get 150 miles up the road to find out that the seller hadn't told me the whole story. I turn up and have a look at the car and the sill patch (which was originally the size of a 25p piece on the phone is actually about the size of a pint glass opening (slight difference and very badly repaired..filled not even sanded down, just a slat on the sill). There are a few spots of rust coming through but on the whole it wasn't a bad car to be honest. Also absent from the photos is the sport wheel. It has the original steering wheel in it)
I decided to get over it and see what it was like on the road.
It has 928 wheels (made the steering feel heavier for some reason) on it and it was very nice to drive, didn't seem at all bad for a car of it's age. So it all looks good. We park up outside the house and I leave the engine running and the coolant starts escaping from the filler cap. Then explodes all over my face as the gentleman in question takes the cap off. I didn't get burnt but it did hurt!!!
It is quite a nice car and I nearly bought it..but the water issue raised my eebrows enough to think that there may be some pressure issues (noted in some of the repairs done) still with the car as it had a history of overheating.
I think he knew he'd lost the sale when that happened, he's a nice chap, just not sure the car isn't goign to cost some money in the near future.
The car is listed elsewhere at £5675 (pistonheads)
