My 944 Lux is up for sale. I can’t keep this and the Turbo, so it needs to find a new owner.

1987 944 Lux, 2.5l. Oval-dash model. Metallic black with full black leather sports interior.

£2,500 ono

Cosmetic bits:
3-piece split-rim alloys (I believe they are Speedlines from a 964 RS, but have never confirmed this)
FlamingEye LED instrument illumination kit fitted
Tinted rear quarter windows and rear hatch glass (installed by Pentagon Glass Tech in Glasgow, amazing quality)
Tinted rear light clusters
Sought-after Porsche script door handles
Good Sony head unit with a ten CD changer in the boot

Work done in the past year or two includes:
Full new clutch
New oil seals throughout
All belts and rollers done
Shocks replaced
Serviced by Motortune in Shotts
New brake pads all round

Taxed until the New Year, MOT valid until late Spring (sailed through last MOT, no issues).

Bad points, for the sake of total honesty:
Paintwork has stone chips and a couple of other stubborn marks
Odometer stopped functioning a little while ago at roughly 135,000 miles. I’ll replace the instrument cluster with a fully working one prior to sale, but the replacement will read 160,000. It’s the nearest I could find for sale.
No intermittent setting on the windscreen wipers

Future jobs the car may need:
Power steering is a little noisy since the car has been garaged for three months. It may settle through use, or it may need looking at. I don’t know. Engine cooling fan is noisy, probably needs a new bearing. Driveshafts will probably need turning round (or replacing) within another year or two.

This is a good 944, perfectly capable of being a daily driver, and has an excellent interior. It really feels like a special car to sit in.

I’ve lost the use of the garage I’ve been storing it in, so really want to sell this car quickly rather than leave it outdoors in the Scottish winter. I’m in Glasgow city centre, the car’s available for viewing and the price is low to reflect the fact that time is tight.

Any questions, feel free to ask. Email me on tony@typescape.com or phone on 07816 529 880.

Actually, there’s a kind man from the PCGB up here who has offered to let me store it over the winter in one of his barns. I’d rather sell it and see it get used though, than keep it locked up all winter only to have to do work on it to get it back to saleable condition in the spring, just because I could get more money for it then.

I also know that this car would be worth more as separate parts than I can get selling it as-is, but I can’t bear the thought of my cherished motor being taken to bits when it drives so well. Also, I’m too lazy for that sort of malarkey. The wheels on it are damned pricey, for starters …

Good Luck Poprock. But be careful who you sell to as some are buying to break at this price! Interior looks tidy. When a decent ones for sale no one seems to be looking!

Sometimes I can’t quite tell whether you’re joking or not … for a trustworthy fellow club member, I might even consider an offer like that. Subject to some sort of written contract, which I’m sure a friendly local lawyer could knock together!

I still haven’t sold this car.

It’s up on eBay again here.

Why do people keep offering me £1,500 for it? Is that some sort of magic number I don’t know about?

I actually had a message through eBay this afternoon from a guy saying that he’d offer me £1,500 because (and I quote:) “your car is a bit past it, mate.”

Cheeky bar steward.

No, I still have this car. I gave up on selling it through eBay for now, can’t keep on paying listing fees when it isn’t going anywhere.

I had to pay Road Tax this week and it turns out I had the MOT date mixed up … I need to get it through an MOT in the next couple of weeks too. Starting to wonder whether I should have caved in and accepted £1,500 for it!
