Just blown the engine on my 924 turbo race car on a test day before the race season starts but the car felt fantastic right until it went bang, bottom end knocked out. I was never happy with the engine as the head had been welded But I have been given a 924 engine as a sponsorship deal from a local scrap yard. He said he'd give me the engine for putting his name (Morgan’s Auto Salvage) on the car I said he could put it on both sides for a free engine. I have heard the only difference between the turbo 924 and 924 engine is the compression if this is the case what creates the lower compression in the turbo engine is it the crank rods pistons or combustion chamber in the head. The car will have to run with a normally aspirated engine this year due to time and cost restraints It took me 3 years to get the car this near to the track and having spent all my money and other peoples money to make it this far. I must race this year in the Northern saloon car championship but I may use the two engines to make one next year. Really the car needs a 944 turbo engine transplant and 300 bhp to make it the beast I want to race. Having been mechanic for my mates BMW for the last 4 years I had a ruff idea on set up the car went grate in testing, fantastic Porsche club sport Brembo up front with race pads and fluid, the top spec Gaszmatic shockers coupled with the Toyo 888 tyres gave a fantastic feel once brake bias tyre pressures, steering geometry and bump rebound and ride height were dial in. I was impressed with the level of grip the car was well planted with less body roll and slide than the BMW that was also test although he was 6 seconds faster than me (he got more BHP and been racing for 4 years)
