Just read Jim Hearnden's article in All Torque and it has left me confused/bemused. On what basis did the MOT tester fail Jims LED sidelights in the driving lights? Having just spent the best part of the day replacing similar lights in the Mitsu. with LEDs (cause its a s*d of a job) and also the number plate lamps in the S2 with LEDs I dont want failures come next MOT time.
I can see that coloured lamps facing front are not allowed but white light LEDs!!! I can find nothing in Construstion and Use Regs or MOT standards that calls for the colour temperature of lamps to be measured ( Led light is 'cold', filament lamps 'warm')
Has someone out there got the answer?

Yup 2 different MOT testers failed mine, they were "white" but at the blue end of the spectrum & came from ACEParts on both fleabay & PH. It was a damn pain as one of my fog/driving lights has the normal broken lugs & so is masticed together so the labour bill to remove unstick & restick was large, all relative compared to the sills of course....!

:iroc:I have L.E.D.s in my brake lights and I've never had a problem getting it through the M.O.T. test.

Mine are not at the blue end and came from Ultraleds. If it passes the MOT next October I'LL let you know, providing I remember to that is.

I've had Led sidelights (white ones) from Ultraleds.com fitted to my 911 & my Golf for about a year & a half, both have been MOT'd and the inspector just asked if they are ment to be white! (they do look a little blue)
