Hi All, I recently got a can of paint to touch up a couple of bits and the colour is not right, it is too silver. and actually looks just metallic silver. I notice on the label they have the OEM code as 823 Silberrosa, which I believe is the code now, and has a colour revision date of 2002. Is the colour difference due to the revision date? I am having a couple of repairs done soon and I am just going to have the paint blended rather than a full respray, so need to get a close match. Does anyone know of any info that will help the painter? He is doing it as a favour, so I would like to get as close as possible to original colour so he will only have to do minimal tinting. I know, I should do a full respray, but I can't afford that as I would only accept the car having all windows trim etc removed, and that just skyrockets the price. Also the car is my daily and I don't want to be in tears each time a stone hits it or a plant scrapes against it, I just want a tidy daily. Thanks in advance. P.S. anyone going to the caffeine and Machine transaxle night on the 30th July? |

If you have original paint, a new can of to code paint isn’t going to blend in as your paint will most likely have suffered some degree of natural fading over time. I would suggest your best course of action might be to remove say a wing mirror cap and get that colour matched by your local paint specialist. They should also be able to look up the original code for the paint for the year of your car as well. A bit of googling has come up with:P823 with colour code F1-F1. The other code I found is:832,82B,M3Z. These could be a good starting point for your paint supplier. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for that. I will do a bit more digging. I probably should have said it was for my Turbo S. I know about the fading etc, I used to work in a spray painters. This colour match is so far wrong and in the wrong way wrong I wouldn't even use it as a start for tinting. I guess I will just leave it to the painter. Just thought someone out there could confirm that they have used this code and it is fine. |
