Why does my 944 S2 always cock up when you least expect it? Driving to work in foul weather this morning and the drivers side wiper has packed up. Had to drive the remainder of the journey looking out the passenger side. Fortunately I was very close to work at this point plus I start earlier enough that the roads are still quiet.

Managed to reattach the armature link at play time, erm I mean break time, but it seems to fall off again after 5 wipes. I was trying to come up with a fix to get me home using some ty-wraps, but to no avail. Anyway, luckily it was wasn't raining tonight (or snowing as had been earlier on today in Dewsbury) so managed to get home no problems.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Rant over. Ta.

Ben

Ahh classic cars, love em. My drivers door electrics failed other day in supermarket car park, so that meant door would not unlock and window wouldn't go down. Door opened fine getting in, decided to stay locked when I wanted to get out :x Ended up crawling out the passenger side. Very undignified with everyone watching  Also only one of the four water jets work which ain't good around these country roads so I know about "cocking up again" syndrome.

Just keep in mind summer is coming

Yup not unknown, the linkage is available from an OPC for a reasonable sum!

After you have replace the arm make sure you keep the joint regularly lubed with grease. It is right in the flow of water from the windscreen so is a common failure point.

Thanks for the tip. It's always gonna fail when you need it the most.

By the way - nice 944. Still can't believe you managed to get a pair of teardrop mirrors donated to you. I'm still looking.

Thankyou :D I was very lucky with the mirrors 8)

Your problem and post reminded me I hadn't lubed my wiper balljoint in a while so I did it yesterday before I forgot.

Mines overdue for some TLC as well so I'll be doing this.

2 words make it a lot easier "Spray Grease"!

Yeah I use motorcycle chain lube from an aerosol with one of those extension 'straws'. Dries quite waxy and is a bit more resistant to water
