I'm looking to replace the engine mounts on my 944 Turbo

From what I've read, genuine ones seem to be the way to go

Where is the cheapest place to buy them?

Obviously you can get them from Porsche but they are expensive. The after market Meyle ones are hydraulic like the orginals and a fraction of the price at £40 odd quid a side. I've been using these for a while with no obvious difference or issues.

I replaced a set (which weren't faulty) when I had another issue so we cut one up to verify they were hydraulic, and they were!

Genuine are made by Corteco, can’t buy them from anywhere but Porsche, or resold by others after purchased from Porsche at a discount

It is worth checking if yours are within spec according to the workshop manual.

C h e c k i n g
Symptoms indicating a damaged engine mount:
- Clearly-discernible knocking or vibration while starting and/or turning off the engine.
- severe engine vibration in idle (with engine in perfect condition and balance shafts adjusted correctly).
- no or insufficient spring travel when pulling down on engine. Specification: 2 - 3 mm. (Do not check left and right hydraulic engine mounts together. Use exhaust pipes for leverage).
- Visual inspection shows leaks (mounts are filled with a damping fluid), rubber peeling off, cracks, or notching.
- Height of removed and de-tensioned hydraulic engine mount is less than 65 mm (new 70 +- l mm) measured between bearing surfaces. (Height of installed hydraulic engine mount not less than 62-2 mm).

I bought a pair from Porsche, couldn't remove the old ones from my Turbo as there is hardly any space between the exhaust manifold and the mount which means getting a socket on them is almost impossible. I could only fit a short spanner in and there was not enough leverage to undo them.

I checked the condition and measure the height and with no leaks they were within the specs listed above so I sold the genuine mounts on to someone else.

Good to know about the Meyle though - will keep them in mind for future!
