Hi.
Whilst looking at my driveshaft. I noticed a connector wire hanging down.
Looks like a sensor above the nearside driveshaft is cracked.
What is it and how can it be replaced?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah picture would be good!

Could be brake pad wear sensor or connector or the associated earth for it.

Reverse light switch is on the gearbox casing and mostly hidden from underneath.

Sorry didn't make it clear.
Connector/sensor in on gearbox above nearside driveshaft.
It's not connected. Reverse lights still work.

Not sure how to post photos on forums. Sorry.

not sure what could be up there, there are two gearbox Ident plungers, and the gearshift, not much room for anything else, unless its an auto

Could it be the Speedo sensor.?
My Speedo doesn't work. Is sender on gearbox?
Wiring end looks ok.
Is sensor/sender easy to replace.?
(If that's what it is.)

Not knowing 944’s as well as I do 968’s it’s a definite possibility that it’s the speedo drive

I would use Google and search fo some images of the speedo drive on a 944, that might help you out

Don’t think they are cheap mind

Yeah it looks like it is that.
Speedometer impulse sensor.

Doesn't it make you wonder how a 944 forum doesn't know that though.? Lol.

Would like to work my way through the vehicle.
Any recommendations for really knowledgeable 944 (turbo) sites?

I believe 'Premier 944 Turbo Community' would be what your looking for after reading the reviews mentioned by members on here .
Not visited myself as don't have a need for facebook .

Ah this a place that offers help, we are not clairvoyant,

A picture would have solved it in an instant, to make it a bit easier in future get the hang of posting Flickr links to images

I don’t own and never have owned a 944 so I was guessing that’s why I asked for a picture, I own a 968, completely different
