Hi guys.
Hammered my 944 turbo Sunday night on the ring road..
Jumped in it this morning, crawling at 20mph a mile from home...... And lost all drive and felt like all gears.

Turns out I'd snapped the off side driveshaft on the gearbox side. Actually inside the boot so not exactly sure how it's broken.

Question is what drive shafts fit?
Are all 944 shafts and CV joints the same?
Names/make recommendations.?

Thanks chaps.

Simple answer is no

The turbo shafts are different to other 944’s
GKN for CV joints,

Hi. I believe the driveshafts are all the same except for the turbo. The turbo also has beefier CV joints and you'd be best using these if your driving is snapping driveshafts!

Try and stick to OEM shafts/joints. ECP/C4PL do Q-Drive ones which are made of plasticine so avoid these at all costs. As Martin says GKN CV joints are OEM and if not definitely OEM quality. Not sure about the actual shafts. Try Porsche for a price first, or I wouldn't put you off buying OEM shafts 2nd hand as my car is still on its original shafts.

Cheers

Stuart

Thanks guys.
Got it recovered by rac today.
Looks like drizzle tomorrow, but when dry, I'll try removing it and find out what has actually happened.

Okay, I stripped down driveshaft.
It was the actual joint.
Had lost the ball bearings into to boot.

I thought that might be the case! GKN joints for replacement will see you right, and yeah packing them is fun!

Cheers
