I guess a bit of background would be the best place to start, the car was once owned by a Gent in or around the Gloucestershire area and was unfortunately rear-ended leaving the vehicle a Cat C Insurance write off, luckily the owner bought the vehicle back from the insurance and rebuilt the car and got it back on the road, 6 months after it was back on the road the engine began showing signs of the head gasket failing and from there as with most big projects "ill deal with it next month" became a decade parked up in a field, from there it was bought by Cotswold Porsche Specialist with the intention of restoring it, however one too many projects and a fair amount of corrosion meant the poor 924 Turbo got sold on. This is where I came into the picture left unattended by the misses one miserable Saturday I wandered onto eBay and found it being somewhat inexperienced with vehicle restorations I said to myself I could easily restore that in 6 months and a few days later I was the owner of one 924 Turbo.......

Well that was roughly 4 to 5 years ago and unfortunately, once again the 924 was put aside.

Fortunately I am now finally in a position to retake the mammoth task of restoring it.

A few Broad Goals of the project.

- Externally identical to the Carrera GTS
- Easy the maintain and repair for both myself any future owners and third parties working on the vehicle
- Easily source basic parts and components in the event of servicing or repair
- Be able to enjoy on the road and track without worrying about blowing up an older rarer engine
- Teach myself and become competent in skills revolving around vehicle restoration and development, e.g. panel making, welding, cad design and 3d printing.
- Develop components so others can more easily maintain and build their own 924/944 1.8t

Boy - you have your work cut out.
Be interesting to know cost.
What's wrong with the standard VW parts bin from which it was derived?
