Post subject:  Speedo Sensor/Output - 944

I am hoping someone can help me.

Can anyone tell me where the signal is picked up for the speedo in a 944 that is fitted with ABS? I have a suspicion that it is picked up from an ABS ring on the ABS models, but perhaps picked up from the gearbox on the earlier non-abs model?

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

Don’t think they used ABS pick up till the 968, you can certainly find out, because if it’s using the abs ring, there will be a frequency multiplexer in the fuse box,

It’s a double size box like the twin fan relay but in black

Thanks very much for the help.

I’ve done a bit more reading and I think you are correct. It seems early models took a speedo drive from one of the front hubs and the later models took a feed from the gearbox.

I will have a look in the Fusebox just to confirm.

Thank you!
