Hi All

I took out and stored all sixteen hydraulic cam followers and checked them as they came out
Two could be depressed very slightly which I put aside, I will replace these items with new.
The other 14 were pumped up fully!
Forward 18 months and about to reassemble
Having soaked them in oil inverted and then operating the plunger gingerly with the forefinger and thumb nails up and down until the air is removed.

The plungers do not firm up (air is only eliminated).
I also thought there was a spring inside but it doesn’t seem so operating them.

My Question is can they be tested and checked off engine to ensure that they will pump up correctly?

I don’t have funds for 16 new ones!

Any help would be great with this.

Regards

Mark

You can get a set of new ones from Audi for about £80

They can be stripped and cleaned seen a few videos on youtube on how to do it

Correction made, I was hassled by the boss while typing that out

Any Idea what the Audi part number is Waylander?

I have watched the you tube videos and managed to get the plunger/pop it valves out of 4 of them and they seem to be a sealed part.
