Recently when I have switched the ignition on to position 1 (i.e. engine not turning over) I can hear the whirring of a motor which is sharply followed by a grinding noise like a motor under stress, followed by a twang almost like a spring being released under tension. The sound seems to be coming from the central vent in the car above where all the heater controls are. All blower and heater functions work as normal though. The problem always seems more pronounced first thing on a cold start.

I have read some of the previous heater type problems and the useful information someone has included by Clarks Garage. It sounds like it might be a heater flap type problem. How much of a job is this to sort out? Are we talking dash out job or something relatively simple?

Cheers, Ben :bounce:
