Today I collected my next project,

A 1986 Honda VF1000F2

I bought this from the spares and repairs section on eBay, not running right,

It has not been serviced since 2003 and only done 3000 miles in the last 17 years, it’s frame number puts it 100 from the end of the one year run of this particular bike, the frame and engine number match all the original documents

I have checked how many left, and this is one of only 9 machines not on sorn, and there is only 18 sorn, so it’s a pretty rare bike

The tech specs say that it’s a 118 BHP and weights in at 245KG, that makes it about 450BHP per tonne
Does the standing 1/4 mile in 11.05 seconds @ 128mph, 0-60 in about 4.0 seconds

Cruising at 80-90 mph it will do 40+ mpg, it needs a lot of tlc but I hope to have it on the road by the end of Sept

Wish me luck

Good luck with that.
I would like to have a classic motorbike but my wife won't hear of it. I had two scooters when I was a teenager a 70cc Capri scooter which was awful, but very, very cheap followed by a BSA Sunbeam 250cc four stroke twin which was superb. Our elder son has occasionally talked of getting a motorbike and my wife refuses to let me encourage him by getting one for myself.
The son in question now has a Cayman S and a 968 Cabriolet.

I'd quite like a Yam RD400, I don't fancy paying the £5k sellers are asking though :( .

There was a yellow 400E on there last week bid up to £7990, reserve not met

I loved my RD400, and yes would love another but not at that price

I have a pic of mine in my mums front garden 1978

I'd arranged to chop my KH400 in for a RD400E around the same time. Went to pick up the RD, and they'd just taken in a tuned GT550 with 3 expansion chambers. The electric start sealed the deal :) .

Oh that’s just lazy, electric start on a two stroke, seen the price of GT 750’s lately

The GT750 was too bloated for my liking. I was interested in a 300 mile old Ducati 1198 recently, the owner sent me a pic of some of his older bikes. Including a Z1B 900 Kwack, H2 750, CBX 1000, GT750 Triple, and a nice Bentley. The RD200 and GT185 had electric start :).

Nah, I paid a Kawasaki dealer £1195 for my Z1B 40 years ago.
