968 not used for some years, tried to start the car but the pump was not working.
Removed the pump and sorted it. Oiled the metal housing stop any rusting and refit.
Refill with fresh fuel, the best.
Started first turn of the key, a little noisy till the hydraulic tappets filled up on tick over.
Just have to clean the old girl after a good check over.

Always great to get dormant cars going again. 968 pretty rare as well.

Before you run that anymore, change the belts

If it’s been standing for years the belts degrade, a snap will write the car off, £100 for a belt change, £8000 for a engine rebuild

Good advice, I fitted new cam and balance belts before it was laid up, have checked and they look ok.
Has any one had a belt snap with a new old shelf life one or a new one not used for a long period.

Not in recent history, but most have heard the warnings so hopefully it never happens,
