I have decided to respray the front apron ( the bit that is in front of the bonnet)and possibly the bumper. Paint code sticker shows LM3A which I believe is India Red. Anyone got any idea where I can get hold of this colour to respray the odds and ends. Thanks |

the best thing to do as red is one of the worst colours to match although with the advent of LED street lights it might not be so bad, Take off the petrol flap and take it to proper paint shop and get it colour matched and than get them to make you up a couple of rattle cans, I got two made up when I had my windscreen surround done, one can base coat, the other 2k clear. cost me about £28 and it was a dam good match on metallic blue |

As Waylander said red is terrible to match, mainly because it is affected by uv more than most colours and there are a few variations of Indish Rot/ Guards Red. My 993 went guards pink and ended up having a full back to metal respray. The 944 has had a new n/s wing and in some lights you can see the mismatch. I have rattle cans from 2 sources: Porsche Shop and WLW auto paints. Both were reasonable matches for touching up wing mirrors and Pro9 front spoiler but for a larger area on the same surface as original paint I would take it to a paint shop or it may end up looking like the dog's dinner

I have found paint shop down in Hove ( Autopaints Brighton ) that will make up the the paint for me. My son will spray it in his spray booth (at Dad's rates ) so not bothering with DIY cans. Given 30 years of fade on the rest of the body it will be interesting to see how it matches. At least the paint is cheap and the panel small and easy to remove so we can play around with the colour and respray it as needed. If we can get a good match I might be really brave and do the bonnet. |

Years back I wanted a very small repair and my Alpine white bonnet repainted. Quotes varied from £400-1400, cheapest said they could blend on the bonnet, dearest wanted to paint the whole front of the car. I contacted a paint mixing company, and they wanted a panel to match for a few days, and about £40. Even then they wouldn't guarantee the match. After a lot of looking I found a very good replacement in the right colour for £60. Still haven't got around to fitting it though. |
