I've been trying to chase down the cause of some excessive free play in the driveline on my 944 that's causing the car to lurch around when coming off the throttle. From turning the propshaft through the transaxle opening it appeared that the movement was happening at the clutch. A little unusual as the clutch was only fitted around 4000 miles ago but the issue has been apparent ever since.
Have now gone to the trouble of taking the clutch out again (much fun) and have found there to be some very slight free play in the splined center of the friction plate. Not much, maybe only 5 degrees.
Does anyone have a spring centered clutch lying around and wouldn't mind giving it a twist to compare?
