hi, replaced the steering shaft (the bit with the uj joints ) on a S2. Does the old one have any value, is it worth keeping for reconditioning or does anyone want them for reconditioning ? Or put it in the scrap bin ?

Scrap AFAIK, I believe you can get an equivalent joint but not worth the effort in my opinion.
