Not sure how relevant this is to us 944 owners as we carry a spare wheel but this was totally new to me so I will share it.
Just found out about a 'puncture 'product that you have injected into your tyres ( before the puncture ) and if you do get a puncture it works by the escaping air drags the
'goo ' out through the puncture hole and seals the hole quickly.
It costs about £20 per tyre.
The people selling it are a company called Kerbed down in Sussex, near Henfield.
I was a bit sceptical but having spoken to a friendly chap at Kerbed I am going to call in and find out more when I am next in that area as I am too old to be changing wheels by the roadside in the middle of winter.
I will keep you posted.

What happens to your valve when setting pressures? Think of the mess when changeing tyres. Forget it.

That type of stuff has been out for years. I bought an S8 Audi in 1996, that stuff was supplied as the spare tyre! so can use it before or after the puncture event. As Endomen says, not a good option unless it's a last resort, it makes a hell of a mess and your tyre people will charge you to clean it up. My tyre bloke won't even touch the puncture if that stuff has been used.

Tyre treatment has been available for years. Its pretty good. Id change 'tyre man' if he wont work on a treated tyre - its usually once every 20,000 miles and it washes off with no issues.

What puncture? That is the whole point.

Er Simon! the tyre still wears out, so you end up with all that crap to clear out whether you have a puncture or not?

Every few years though Sam: every 20,000 miles. And it isnt much of a job either.

I think that the 'tyre wally' quoted was mistaking tyre weld or similar, for the preventative product, which comes off easily. In fairness though, I dont have a very high opinion of an establishment which makes an issue of tyre weld either.

Look,at the time people were advocating preloading their tyres with this stuff including , if I remember correctly, the manufacturers of my DAILY DRIVE, Audi, which did not carry a spare. The car was an S8 Quatro Sport, look it up if you are not familier with it, I did a high annual mileage, over 60K per annum, by your math that makes 3 tyre changes a year, if your tyre company says they will not fit tyres to those rims because of that stuff, would you want to scrape it all off 12 times per year? In my case no, I stopped using it, and relied on my recovery service.

The new tyres, fitted from the factory, on my Tiguan came with a sealant built in.

I've seen threads on the Tiguan forum where owners have needed tyres repaired and the likes of Kwikfit have refused saying that it can't be done and just wanted to sell new tyres at an inflated (excuse the pun) price.

There are many of these products on the market, I fitted a puncture prevention system into my 996 tyres 9 months ago from BIKE SEAL /AUTO SEAL based in Somerset. They had a stand at the NEC Classic car in Nov'19. This is used by numerous emergency services and NATO forces and was developed for NASA. The primary reason I used this is because although my 996 has a spacesaver spare wheel , most Porsche owners dont think about how they would get the full size wheel in their car after fitting the spacesaver. If you have to rely on the foam aerosol provided with more modern cars , it cannot then be repaired and has to be replaced. The BIKE SEAL/AUTO SEAL product remains liquid indefinitely with no shelf life or speed restrictions, wheras many other products are gels . The supplier claims it will seals upto a 15mm hole within 2 seconds
