So to actually drive my car to other Porche specialists etc, I needed to get my 2.7 1989 944 basically accessed to make sure I hadn't purchased a dog!
So update with a couple of questions;
- Power Steering good, I thought it wasn't working but it's just heavy
- Brakes good. Servo working
- Engine good (was totally rebuilt 15,000 miles ago), needs another service, it was done by previous owner, but to be totally sure going to get it done. New dizzy, leads and plugs, oil and filter. Cam belt was done 15,000 miles ago. Engine does need setting up. Runs a bit lumpy when cold.
- Exhaust is totally shagged, has been patched. Can't remember if it has a CAT, hoping not.
- Suspension needs doing front right (from driver's seat), bit of knocking.
- Oil pressure switch has gone, was tested. (Good source for one?)
- Gear stick bushes good, but linkages shot at back. Hard to see whole thing with exhaust in the way. The connection that seems to be bad is on the top of the gear box, how to get access is under? Any pointers? Do you have to drop it?
- There is a wine at the back, which I am hoping is a wheel bearing and not the diff! (Not petrol pump!!)
Thanks, it's not too bad for 140,000 and 15 owners!!!! I really want to save this one from the scrape heap.
Sounds like a good start. How's the body?
Regarding gear linkages at the back, there are some youtube vids on this & to my knowledge, best to take out the back box. If on a lift, I will take off the passenger side wheel for better visibility when I tackle this. Then should be reachable with some effort.
