I repaired the drivers door switch today (courtesy light). I could hear a clicking noise in the passenger footwell whist I was fixing it (as I was earthing the switch).

Now when I open the door and lock it, I hear a clicking noise in the passenger footwell for about 15 second each time.

Any ideas what's going on??

Thank you

That's the relay in there and your switch cant be functioning properly or you have a wiring issue. Normally earth related. Try cleaning up the contacts on the switch. It's only 1 screw that holds it in place.

Thanks Stuart, I'll have another go at the switch.
What does the relay do?

A lot of later 944s have an alarm module in the passenger footwell. I have had them click before, if you trace it, the module may have a 928 part number. Certainly another 2.7 did. This one had a none start issue. Never really got to the bottom of it.

Thanks Jim, I know the car had an alarm but it does not work (yet!!!). I did notice a couple of major connectors under the carpet. Both lose. Someone has been playing under there!!

replace the door switches,

If you have not noticed you can put the windows down with the ignition off, only if the door is open.

when the switches get a bit cream crackered the power window relay goes nuts chattering away,

you can prove this by taking out the power window relay

It might not be the door you think it is, replace both as it can trigger the alarm too at about 3:30 am in the tipping rain
