944 2.7 - 1989 Just ordering a new door mirror glass & backing. Was fixing the mirror heater (bad wires) and discovered someone stuck the a new mirror over the broken one DOAH!!! Can't get the mirrors of the black heater backing, really stuck on there (and sharp). So if I order an a new heater backing (the bit with the black circle) with mirror on it, can I check, are they the same for either side? e.g. interchangeable? The part numbers look the same. Thank you!!! |

I dont think they are sided but quite pricey new IIRC. I got a couple from a breaker when I broke one. That will get you the glass and the black backing with the 2 terminals on. I think I paid a tenner each. Stuart |

(Can't get the mirrors of the black heater backing, really stuck on there (and sharp). A heat gun used to remove the mirror glass etc usually does the trick! |

The elements are usually bullet proof in my experience. Chopping of the wires to the mirror is a bigger issue and more commonly a problem but you seem to be on top of that. There is a plug for the loom but its tucked away behind the dash and evidently eludes the average non caring snip wielding terrorist....... |
