944 2.7 - 1989

Just ordering a new door mirror glass & backing.

Was fixing the mirror heater (bad wires) and discovered someone stuck the a new mirror over the broken one DOAH!!! Can't get the mirrors of the black heater backing, really stuck on there (and sharp).

So if I order an a new heater backing (the bit with the black circle) with mirror on it, can I check, are they the same for either side? e.g. interchangeable? The part numbers look the same.

Thank you!!!

I dont think they are sided but quite pricey new IIRC. I got a couple from a breaker when I broke one. That will get you the glass and the black backing with the 2 terminals on. I think I paid a tenner each.

A heat gun used to remove the mirror glass etc usually does the trick!

Thank you......That is where I will go next, trying one from Ebay, hopefully the element is ok. Got power back the mirror (wires were rotten)!

The elements are usually bullet proof in my experience. Chopping of the wires to the mirror is a bigger issue and more commonly a problem but you seem to be on top of that. There is a plug for the loom but its tucked away behind the dash and evidently eludes the average non caring snip wielding terrorist.......
