Does anyone here have experience of a half cage in a 944 ? I believe that Safety Devices do one, but I don't think OMP do. I specifically want to keep the rear seats and luggage blind if at all possible.

I have a Heigo one but most if not all would require removal of rear seat backs.

Thanks; total removal of rear seats is not an option for road rallies - though modification to allow fitment of a roll bar is.

The default answer used to be Roll Centre. Their fronts werent great (but SD later altered their fronts to mount on the floor and not the sill top, too), but their rears were brilliant value for money and theyd make one without head-chopping front section hangers for you if you wanted.

Sadly Martin sold the patterns/jigs/business to SD in 2017, and the 944 parts arent available now.

You can keep the seat base in for the FIA approved (must have at least one diagonal) Safety Devices rear cage and 'should' still be the right side of the rules for production car. If the seat backs must be retained, then you are looking at a custom made cage and probably not FIA approved as getting the diagonal brace not to be impeded by the seat back will be pretty tough. You may want to consider a harness bar if using race seats and that bar will definitely be in the way of the seat back

@944man yes the SD front goes to the floor but the weld in sub plates should go up the sill to increase rigidity and not be solely floor mounted......

A ridiculous change though Steve. Both of mine (an approved 6pt. P18 [the P018 isnt approved now] and a 13pt P013) both mount on the sill top and all SD fronts used to, too. This was their only advantage over Rollcentre's offering, which was approved but far cheaper.

Must be a valid reason to change? Not so close to the door, dash, less bulk around the ankle area? No idea? There used to be conversations of issues of needing to cut the dash some years ago.
