Got another '85 944 the other day. It was going clinkclinkclinkcklink…. from the rear as it moved. Had a look...… old school hollow spacers with screw on stud extensions. The original spacer was missing, so the studs were too long, the screw on extensions were bottomed out 20mm before they hit the disc, so the wheel was just hanging on the studs, with the spacer doing nothing
