Post subject:  1992 S2 944 Cabriolet - Ignition Switch Removal Help Needed

Hi,

I have a 1992 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet. I am in the process of changing the ignition switch as it is being very naughty and will not let the key turn.
I have printed off instructions from both RennList and Clarks Garage to guide me.
I have stripped everything down until I am now left with the switch in a 'cast' casing.
The instructions say push it out, but it is fastened in tight and will not move either forward even with some 'gentle' tack hammer persuasion.
Nor backwards as the casing is solid at the back with the exception of a small hole in the centre through which a ' metal cross', which I am guessing is a part of the switch mechanism, protrudes.

What have I missed, or what am I doing wrong?

I have photos, which I need to reduce to post on the forum.

Please help before summer is over.

Cheers Sean

Hi Sean,
If it is the same on the oval dash cars, as the square dash ones. There is a small cross head screw which needs to be undone. Then the white plastic switch part will just drop out. You will need to look at the back of the switch to see the screw.

Regards,
Paul.
